Early Praise for The Wooblers

“The Wooblers is a gem of a story about overcoming personal obstacles and the prejudice and ignorance of others. Its whimsical illustrations help the story come alive. Readers will identify with Faith's struggle with acceptance of self, as most will have experienced similar feelings. It is a heartwarming tale of conquering one's fears.

As a retired 4th and 5th grade teacher, I see opportunities for writing prompts and discussions relating to the acceptance of those that seem different. The bonus glossary would lend itself to vocabulary studies, and the bird information included at the end would be a great tool for extended studies of birds. A fun activity would be to have students create a new fictional species of their own. These are just a few of the many lessons that could be drawn from The Wooblers. It is an engaging book that would benefit both students and teachers.” —Jill Fogle, Retired Elementary School Teacher

“The Wooblers is enchanting and uplifting, and the colorful and detailed illustrations are a delightful portrayal of the characters. Children of any age will be charmed by this entertaining and meaningful story.” —Gloria Kenyon, MFA, artist and educator

“LG Bridges and Tammie Walters have brought together their talents to create a delightful fantasy world of birds in their children’s book, The Wooblers. The Woobler flock lives by strict rules, but Faith is different. Instead of normal drab colors, she was born with bright and colorful feathers and has a taste for grass instead of bugs. She likes to weeble instead of wooble and prefers to fly in loops and spirals instead of the normal straight lines. No matter how hard she tries, she just cannot seem to fit in. When Faith finds herself in danger, will her flock come to her rescue?

The story is a modern parable for any child (or adult) who has ever struggled against the norm. The world of the Wooblers is brought to life with witty dialogue and warm illustrations and the reader will be rooting for Faith. In addition, the author has included a glossary, discussion questions, and information about real birds.

So, settle in with a slice of grasshopper pie (with moving grasshoppers), have a seat on the front porch of Faith’s nest, and share this book with a child.” —Millicent Flake, retired school media specialist and author of Moving Beyond: Journeying Through Life's Changes

“You’ll never see the plot twist coming! Join Faith as she navigates the uncertainties of growing up and having to decide if she wants to fit into the flock or follow her heart and risk it all. Charming illustrations bring this imaginative tale to life in a story within a story.” —Shannon Jochetz, Special Education, 5th grade teacher
